Booklover Spotlight: Fadi Kattan
'When asked what am I reading, many imagine a pile of cookbooks and I always smile a cheeky smile while sharing what I am reading while I watch their puzzled looks. Chefs do read way beyond cookbooks, we love cookbooks, we inspire ourselves from cookbooks, we love having our peers cookbooks but we read beyond cookbooks...
For this listing, of course my cookbook Bethlehem: a celebration of Palestinian food but also Palestinian poetry, Mahmoud Darwich, some political insight by Avi Shlaim and by Edward Said, a journey into Palestinian stories with the freat Raja Shehadeh, a peek into the life of a restaurareur with Nick Lander, some fiction with Carlos Luiz Zafon and then a journey to Paris with Hemingway, Ginsberg, Huysmans and Rimbaud before taking you to the freedom movements of India with Lapierre and Collins and the control of the power of the people through Elias Canetti's reflections. To finish, my brother Karim's recently translated novel The Palace of the Higher Hill.
