Books on Burns for 25 January 2021
Scotland's national poet Robert "Rabbie" Burns was born in 1759 and wrote more than 550 poems and songs before his death at the age of only 37. A huge source of inspiration to the founders of Liberalism and Socialism, Burns is known for his astute social and political commentary and is considered a revolutionary figure, both here in his homeland and beyond.
Each year on his birthday, the Burns Supper is a celebration of Burns' life and legacy. First organised by his close friends and family as a memorial dinner, the night has since become a world-wide event, celebrating Scotland's culture and heritage with traditional Scottish food, music and recitals of Burns’s poetry.
