Kelly's top reads of all time

Here are some of my favourite reads of all time, in no particular order. If you'd like to get my views, hauls, and reviews, follow me on kellydoesbooks on IG.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Hunter S. Thompson
£10.99 £10.44What I imagine an acid trip would be like in writing; an exploration of the perversion of the American Dream.

Disconnected: How to Stay Human in an Online World
Emma Gannon
£9.99 £9.49Essential reading if you're trying to spend more time offline, cut down on distractions, and spend more time on what matters.

The Shining
Stephen King
£10.99 £10.44So much scarier than the film. Stephen King is the master of horror, and this book is a masterclass in building that creeping sense of unease that can't help but implode as the story develops. Audibly gasped at the end.

The Cat and The City: 'Vibrant and accomplished' David Mitchell
Nick Bradley
£9.99 £9.49Beautiful, magical-realism style story set in Tokyo. A must-read for anyone who loved J-lit.

Child of God
Cormac McCarthy
£9.99The perfect read for true crime lovers out there. A short-but-impactful story inspired by the likes of Ed Gein.

The Road
Cormac McCarthy
£10.99 £10.44So obsessed with this I wrote my thesis about it. A poignant story at the end of the world, following a nameless father and son in their quest for survival.

Animal: The ‘compulsive’ (Guardian) new novel from the author of THREE WOMEN
Lisa Taddeo
£8.99 £8.54

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Other Tales of Terror
Robert Louis Stevenson
£6.99 £6.64

A Tale for the Time Being
Ruth Ozeki
£9.99 £9.49A gorgeous story that plays with the nature of language, time, storytelling, and everything in between.
When it comes to shopping for books online, I either shop directly from small, independent sellers or through Bookshop.org. Here's why - 10% of any sales on Bookshop.org go straight to indie bookshops, so it really is the most ethical place to shop online while getting the widest range of options from across the country.
Also, I like that the money I spend here doesn't go towards weird men in cowboy hats going on little trips into space. No offense.
