This is a personal list: books that I enjoyed through my reading life, that inspired, that opened up new horizons. 

To be added to as I realise what is absent! Some are omitted as not currently in print. Short story collections will also be added; re-reading the new Silverberg collection reminds me of that early discovery of SF when younger.
