Little Acorns Bookstore is the North-west of Ireland’s largest Independent Bookstore with 70K plus books in stock, both new and used, of all genres and suitable for all ages. Specialist sections include local books (most author-signed), Irish history and politics, English literature and a dedicated children's book area (with resident guard dog mascot cuddly toy Scooby Doo that the local kids adore). Also stocks cards, gifts, local arts and crafts, retro toys and literary accessories. Held in-store and/or off-site over 50 literary events (readings, talks, launches, signings, workshops, story-telling etc) throughout 2024.
Little Acorns Bookstore is now based at 18 Great James St, Derry, N Ireland which reopened on 10 April 2023
Plans to open Ireland's only (and first!) Typewriter Museum, with over 150 typewriters on display, are scheduled for early 2025.
Home to two LegenDerry old school teacher chairs - The Writers' Chair and The Theatre & Media Chair - boasting nearly 400 signatures from such luminaries as authors, artists, musicians, actors, media personalities, 'creative politicians' and many more.
The walk-in shop is open daily 10am - 5pm but closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Accepts cash and card payments (chocolate & flowers!), in shop and online, plus can post out orders internationally. One-person business. Established in March 2011.
