I'm a naturalist and author, based in Somerset. After a long career making natural history programmes for the BBC (including the BAFTA-award-winning Springwatch), I now teach an MA in Travel and Nature Writing at Bath Spa University. My books include 'biographies' of the Robin, Wren and Swallow (published by Square Peg), Mrs Moreau's Warbler: How Birds Got Their Names and The Accidental Countryside (Faber) and the forthcoming Skylarks with Rosie: A Somerset Spring (Saraband, March 2021). A lifelong naturalist, I have travelled throughout Britain and to all the world's seven continents in search of wildlife.
