The Aldeburgh Bookshop
Welcome to The Aldeburgh Bookshop in the beautiful Suffolk coastal town of Aldeburgh. We have been here over 70 years selling books in the High Street and won the Award for Independent Bookshop of the Year at the British Book Awards 15 years ago - we have the Nibby to prove it.
We are the current owners, husband and wife team, John and Mary James. We have excellent help from the phenomenally well-read Harriet Bailey, versatile and technically-able designer Celandine Mitchell Cotts, who designs our website alongside working in the bookshop, and keen readers Tom Wigan, Lily Clapshaw and Lucy Clare.
We are happy to recommend books and we send a regular newsletter with recommendations. We are open for orders, collections, deliveries and posting 7 days a week from 9.30 to 5.30 (except on Sundays when we are open 10 to 5.00). You can ring 01728 452389 or email us at [email protected].
In 2002 we founded the prestigious Aldeburgh Literary Festival which manage to produce 20 years of outstanding programmes, including one of the last events in the country before the coronavirus hit. The 23rd Aldeburgh Literary Festival will take place from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd March 2024.
