Beaufort Bookshop

Welcome to the online version of The Beaufort Bookshop - a beautiful little bookshop situated in Larkhall, Bath.

The shop is pretty much a one man enterprise - owned and run by former Head of English, James Thomas - with a handful of volunteers helping to bring order to towering piles of mainly secondhand books. Most of our walk in customers enjoy the serendipity of finding something they never knew they wanted; others mourn the lack of organisation and cast withering looks as they try to work out how to find the book they're after. Our solution to date has been to offer a new book ordering service in store. Bookshop.org is an even better solution!

There are a number of amazing independent businesses and people in the Larkhall area. Where possible, we have sought help from this pool of talent to put together the lists: an expert garden designer has compiled her top 10 list of gardening books; literary agents Gill and John McLay (the original founders of the Bath Kids' Lit Fest) have chosen 15 of their favourite children's titles; and Max Porter, author of the acclaimed Grief is the Thing with Feathers and Booker shortlisted Lanny, has picked his 'must read' poetry collections.
