Established in 1974, we are an independent, second generation, family owned bookshop who are proud to be involved in this venture.  Often referred to as iconic, a high street destination and an institution, Browsers Bookshop, Porthmadog is the point of departure for all your exotic journeys into the extraordinary, entrancing and captivating worlds of books and art.

2020 saw some changes at Browsers, a full refurb of the shop premises and the installation of a reading room were completed whilst we were closed through lockdown. Browsers still looks like the original you all know and love but with a modern twist - to include heating and a coffee machine too!

In addition to Welsh and English books we also stock fine art materials. We are a main Daler Rowney stockist and are now the only major art shop left in North Wales. You will also find maps, walking guides, craft materials, jigsaws, board games, stationery and greetings cards alongside book-related gifts. 

Our reading room offers the opportunity to sit and browse your prospective purchases, have a nap whilst the 'other half' shops, browse work by local artists and attend events, from book launches, talks to yoga classes.
