Dartmouth Community Bookshop
We are the inheritors of a long tradition in Dartmouth dating back to 1951 when Christopher Robin Milne set up the famous Harbour Bookshop. When it sadly closed in 2011 a group of local volunteers set up this not-for-profit community co-operative to continue the sales of new books in Dartmouth and to celebrate the connection to Milne. We have a Winnie-the-Pooh corner featuring books about the boy and the bear.
Dartmouth is a wonderful historic town attracting many tourists so we stock lots of books and guides of local interest and we have a welcoming and extensive children’s area.
We look out across the narrow road to the ancient Cherub Inn dating back to 1380 and our shop, though much altered, is in an old, once jettied building with stone walls. Our extension over the back yard was paid for with funds raised from our supporters giving us more space for our great selection of books.
If you can't get to our bookshop please support us here. We are constantly updating our online book choices and we have some great themed lists below for adults and children. Please note that books ordered here are sent direct to you from our wholesaler.
