Elaine Kasket
I'm Elaine, a psychologist, speaker and storyteller. I'm also an author of nonfiction and fiction, and published All the Ghosts in the Machine: The Digital Afterlife of Your Personal Data in 2019. In it, I argue that what happens to your data when you die is the perfect lens for understanding the true power big tech wields over your information and your identity. I'm currently working on Exposed: A Life in Data (Elliott & Thompson Books), an examination of technology and privacy across the life span. Not as often as I'd like, but whenever I can, I write for publications like Medium, Psychology Today, SWAAY, and Marie Curie UK, and I'm working on the second edit of my first novel, which takes the experience of meeting an attractive stranger online to a disturbing new level.
As someone who reads well beyond my psychologist 'lane', I'll probably be highlighting a range of books here on Bookshop. But I'll also be recommending those books that I find myself mentioning to my clients and books that I feel are essential reading for navigating the modern digital world. Thanks for supporting local businesses while making your book-browsing experience a whole lot more like wending your way through a physical shop!
