Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders village of St Boswells, The Mainstreet Trading Company is a destination in itself.  Owners, Rosamund & Bill de la Hey renovated a former auction house in 2008 to create a light and airy space filled with books and the smell of coffee. Mainstreet Deli & Home, in the barn behind the main shop, was launched by Tom Kitchin in 2012. 

Books is at the heart of the business, with over 7,000 titles in stock and a particular focus on children's books (Rosamund was previously children's marketing director at Bloomsbury). Mainstreet has won several prizes over the years, including Independent Bookshop of the Year, Children's Bookseller of the Year and, in 2018 Britain’s Best Small Shop.  You can read more about the shop in the December issue of Country Living magazine.
