Hi beautiful people!
I honestly don't know what to write in this without it sounding pretentious or completely cringe-worthy but hey here goes...
I'm a down-to-earth twenty-something from London who loves reading books! I've recently joined Booktube and had bookstagram for a while and love constantly seeing books on my feed.
Now... i do not have an English Lit degree, i don't speak posh, I don't read manga or whatever it's called... i might not be your stereotypical idea of a bookwork. I love my big gold hoops, getting my nails done and watching trashy TV! Sometimes i think there can be a little snobbery against people who don't APPEAR intellectual, who don't fit into the box of 'an intelligent reader'. I'm here to break that reading snobbery! You can read, enjoy books, love nerdy stuff without being a A* Star student. It saddens me so much that there are so many people that think they aren't 'clever' enough to read or feel isolated from reading from bad experiences... we need to let those people back in! We need to welcome them, not chastise or patronise or ostracise! There is a book out there for everyone.
I am constantly trying to widen my reading tastes and choices every month with debut authors, poignant topics and a range of stories. I try to ensure i am inclusive and always teaching myself something while i'm reading. However, i do love a good creepy thriller or a feminist dystopian!
Outside of reading, i am a secondary school teacher, avid food lover, trashy telly watcher, responsible big sister, Creative arts enthusiast and spoken word artist. This means i also LOVE poetry too... writing it, performing it and reading it too. So keep an eye out for poetry recommendations!
Hopefully that gives you a little bit about me... and as you can probably tell i love an exclamation mark 🙈
Love and light,
