I'm a writer and zoologist based in lovely, leafy London. I write about animals - alive and extinct, exotic and familiar - for children (usually around the age of 7 and above...) and, occasionally, grown ups. 

I work at the Natural History Museum, London. I received my PhD in zoology from the University of Cambridge, have appeared as an expert on radio and television programmes and I've worked for the BBC and the Natural History Museum London. As well as writing, I act as a biological consultant for publishing houses like ladybird and Lonely Planet, and I lecture at University College London.
