Oasis Christian Centre
'More Than Just A Bookshop'... The Oasis Christian Centre is the retail outlet of the interdenominational Oasis Christian Trust; Registered Charity No. 1171906.
Established in 1984 as a resource centre for Christian products and also to sell goods from developing countries. From these small beginnings a thriving charity has developed that supports both local and international needs. 25 Church Street was built in 1605 and needed a huge amount of renovation, but as a result of ongoing work it has been lovingly restored and so Romsey has a delightful Tudor bookshop within the historical part of the town, opposite the Abbey.
The book range is extensive, not least the bibles in various versions and bindings, from the major publishers. The children's area is home to a big selection of books for all ages, plus bibles and stories suitable for new babies and christenings.
As well as books we sell copious amounts of greeting cards, some unique to us, music on C.D and DVD of all genres, stationery and wholefoods. These wholefoods (dried fruits, coffees, teas, sweets and gorgeous chocolate) are from the Traidcraft and Divine chocolate range. Following a 60 year tradition we continue selling Scout and Guide uniforms as the previous owners of the building were tailors, so we are the only bookshop in the country to supply uniform! Complimenting the books are gifts from developing countries as well as the UK, as we seek to promote Fairtrade principles and work alongside artisans in their own country. The Leprosy Mission catalogue is often mailed out to help our customers who are looking for something a little different.
National book tokens and our own gift vouchers also sold/exchanged.
We are a part of a great community and are supported in so many ways. Currently we are raising funds to repair the roof , upper floor windows and part of the cellar, so thank you if you have contributed!
