Opened in 2011, People’s Bookshop always aspired to be more than a radical bookshop. We’ve become a community hub, a space for the free flow of ideas, and a place where those ideas can be realised in the hustle and bustle of organising activity. Run as a volunteers’ collective, it’s a base where young and old can come together, to teach and inform one another, to talk, organise and create. Our music, poetry and author sessions live long in the memory.
Over the next decade, we intend to extend the rooted, vibrant community around us. We will make People’s Bookshop accessible for the many, bring in new generations and old friends, provide solidarity, foment change and offer hope to all who dare to imagine a better world.
