Sophy Roberts

I am an author and journalist. My first book, The Lost Pianos of Siberia (London: Doubleday, 2020) was named a Sunday Times 'Book of 2020'. My next book, A Training School for Elephants, follows in the footsteps of a 19th-century colonial expedition in Africa, weaving past and present to interrogate an untold story of cruelty and folly. In turn, this reveals the effect of colonialism on people, landscapes and our broken relationship with animals.  It will be published in the UK on February 20, 2025 by Transworld.
