A Passion for writing
I’ve been writing since the late 1970s and initially, it was freelance general interest articles for magazines and newspapers in the UK and Southern Africa. Back then my writing had to fit around a full-time job, looking after my two toddlers and, at one point, five rescue dogs, a cat and whatever waifs and strays my husband bought back with him from his job working in the African bush for three weeks at a time. As the years went by the toddlers grew up and are now adults with children of their own.
Busier than ever
Once I retired, I realised I had time to research and write books; the results are what you see on this website. I have always loved travelling and discovering the history and general information of wherever I was living at the time. That is reflected in the books I’ve written. I’ve enjoyed history in general since I was at school many years ago, so researching various aspects of it and then writing about what I’ve found is sheer pleasure.
Latest project
My first book about the Knights Templar in Yorkshire was written with my sister, as was my last one which, at the time of writing, is in the process of trying to find itself a publisher. As soon as it finds a home I’ll update my website and let you know. It’s called Lawless Ladies: A thousand years of female criminals, their crimes and punishments.
