Ed Vere is an award winning and New York Times bestselling writer & illustrator of picture books.
He was Booktrust's Illustrator in Residence for 2020.
'How to be a Lion' was the winner of Oscar's Book Prize 2019, selected by the children's laureate Lauren Child and a jury including Sarah Brown. It was an NPR great choice for 2018 & an EB White Read Aloud Honor Book.
New York Times bestselling 'Max the Brave' was named one of The Sunday Times's '100 Modern Children's Classics'. It is published in over 17 languages and was followed by 'Max at Night' and 'Max & Bird'.
Booktrust and Ed worked together to give 750,000 copies of 'Mr Big' to young schoolchildren across the UK in 2008.
'Banana' was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal.
As the artist in residence at the Born Free Foundation, Ed travelled to Kenya to paint lions and is writing a book exploring how we can help animals to thrive in the wild.
Ed worked with CLPE to co-create Power of Pictures which encourages visual literacy in primary school education and has received major funding from the Arts Council.
